Kesselfallklamm Gorge

Semriach

The beautiful Kesselfallklamm is like a little sister to the mighty Bärenschützklamm.

Anyone who visits this gorge understands very well that it is a protected natural monument. The wild and romantic gorge is really picturesque and with spectacular photo spots just ideal for all photographers.

Wooden ladders and romantic waterfall

Due to its proximity to the water, the Kesselfallklamm gorge is especially popular with families with children, but rather unsuitable for small children, strollers or dogs. The wildly romantic path with its many stairs and bridges and the accessible waterfall convey adventure and experience - without any danger.

Since 1904 you can follow the Rötschbach from Augraben on its most exciting section, the Kesselfall, on the Kesselfallrundweg: The Kesselfallrundweg (R3) starts at the Sandwirt in Augraben. A "talking" signpost - it shows a man falling into a cauldron - gives the direction.

Over several waterfalls, over rapids and through basins, the spring-fresh water rages and gurgles. The longest waterfall plunges 38 meters over several steps and basins. More than 50 bridges with a total of about 2,800 rungs or steps make it possible to experience the natural spectacle up close.

Where the Rötschbach stream still splashes quietly at the upper end of the gorge, the circular route branches off to the right. Steeply uphill, you will first reach a very unconventional giant rock formation, the so-called stone gate, before the hike leads back down past a cave.

After a total of about 2.5 kilometers, 200 meters of altitude and 1.5 to 2 hours of walking time, the circular route ends directly at the starting point, the traditional Sandwirt inn. Ideal, because now you have undoubtedly earned a culinary refreshment. And for the little ones there's also a playground and a small animal corner with some dwarf goats.
