Starting from the parking lot at Hotel Feisterer in Ramsau am Dachstein:
Walk up the steep forestry road through the woods to the Lärchbodenalm (1.406 m) - a family-friendly hiking destination, open every day from June to October from 10 am. A playground for the children, fresh organic milk from their farm and the famous Lärchbodenschnitte will invite you to stay.
The forestry trail continues through larch woods to the rock face - the Fischermauer. A narrow path winds up the wide, green slopes of the "Tiefkar" and offers fantastic views of the Enns Valley whilst you are getting closer to the Sinabell's rock faces. At the Guttenberghaus, the terrace offers a place for your well-deserved rest. This mountain hut lies at 2.147 m above sea level and is the highest situated hut of the Styrian Alpine Association which also offers overnight accommodation.
In July 2014, the Guttenberghaus celebrated its 100th anniversary. Situated on a hill, between rocky mountain ranges of the Scheichenspitze and the Sinabell, it offers fantastic views. The trails to the Dachstein Glacier, the crossing of the high-plateau to the Krippenstein or the ascent of the Scheichenspitze as well as the Ramsauer Via Ferrata can be taken from the Guttenberghaus.
From the Guttenberghaus on, you are on high-alpine terrain, so you must act accordingly to assure a safe hike. The ascent of the Sinabell will take an hour from the Guttenberghaus and the trail is often used as a descent from the "Austria Via Ferrata".
To continue on the king's stage, take the trail no. 618, past the Sinabell and the Wasenspitze to the fork to trail no. 619. There, you will have a fantastic view of the small lake inside the mountain cirque: the Höllgrabensee (Silberkarsee). There, you can also enjoy the vast scenery of "Am Stein", a karst high-plateau which stretches across 20 km² to the north and east of the Dachstein. Small rock summits, green hills, mountain pine forests and steep mountain coombes shape this landscape.
Now, you will take on the steep, rocky descent via Stangalm, down the serpentine trail to the Silberkarhütte, past the Via Ferrata Siega. The mountain hut lies at 1.223 m and offers hikers and mountaineers organic product from their organic farm. The rest of the way is short and different from what you have experienced so far. You will walk through the romantic wild water gorge, past the cascades, across bridges and steps. The gorge is home to two of the most strenuous Via Ferratas called Hias and Rossina.
At the exit of the Silberkarklamm (entry fee), you will take the trail to Fliegenpilz (1.040 m) and take trail no.7 to the Rössingstraße. Follow the trail until you reach the turnoff Angerer where you take a right and join the Panorama Trail no. 1 for an approx. 20-minute ascent to the parking lot at Hotel Feisterer.
