Ridge Hike - high above the Planneralm - 1.588m

An alpine hike, or more accurately: a narrow, alpine trail, mostly along the ridge, over several peaks on the north-west side of the Plannerkessel.
The alpine hut village of the Planner Alm lies in the Planner cauldron, easily reachable via the access road from Donnersbach.  Liselotte Buchenauer found an appropriate description for this area: “The Planner Kessel has many special features, is easily reachable, the peak can be climbed with minimal elevation change, interesting stones, a lot of water and an amazing abundance of alpine flowers, amid a north-facing horseshoe of mountains that is both green and rugged.”

You climb around 400 m from the hut village to the beginning of the ridge on the Plannerknot (elev. 1,996 m).  Path No. 14 now heads south along the rocky ridge, without great hurdles along the way, past the immense red-black tower of rock.  The little trail leads up and down through impressive fields of larch to the Plannereck and onwards, always stocking to the ridge above the Plannerkessel, taking us to the Kleiner- and Grosser Rotbühel.  In the west, we overlook remote highlands including the Gullingtäler.  Below to the right lies the hut village.  At the trail crossing on the Grosser Rotbühel, the mountain crest turns west,  the trail becomes even narrower and cuts over the Gläserkoppe (elev. 1,970 m) to the last peak of this tour, the Jochspitze (elev. 2,037 m).
Caution is essential for all these trails!  From the Jochspitze, we head downhill to the Goldbachscharte, following signs down through a water-rich cirque and damp forest to the Planneralm.
