Starting from the car park at Gasthof Kölblwirt, we first cross the Johnsbachtal valley in the direction of Schattseite. The approach to the Odelsteinhöhle entrance is steep and requires good shoes. Again and again, beautiful views open up into the Johnsbachtal. The way back is more comfortable and leads us back to the Kölblwirt car park.
On the way back, visit the historic mountaineers' cemetery (next to GH Donnerwirt), the willow dome and the ecological footprint (on the Gesäuse federal road).
