From the starting point Ramsau Ort, walk past the Protestant church and the cemetery to the Knollhof. From there, a wide path will take you to Lärchenhof. Turn right and walk towards Lindenhof and Ramsbergerhof. Take a left and follow a path through a beautiful larch forest past Holzer, Kramelhof and Gasthof Edelbrunn.
From Gasthof Edelbrunn, hike up a forest path past Dachsteinhaus towards Türlwand.
The gorgeous viewpoint with a bench, called 'Sitzbichl' awaits you with beautiful views of the western parts of Ramsau's plateau and, of the Schlaminger Tauern.
Continue the ascend to Brandalm where you will have a beautiful view of Dachstein's impressive southern walls. There is also a mountaineer's memorial and a little chapel called the 'Dachstein Kircherl'.
From the chapel, you will see the Austriahütte with its alpine museum, which is only a short ascent away.
The 5-Huts Trail leads through alpine pastures and joins the Dachsteinstraße, just below the Gasthof Hunerkogel. Now, you are only 100 m from Dachstein Gondola's bottom station. From there, the path (no. 6 and no. 615) will cross the coombe, through snowfields and past rock walls, to the Südwandhütte.
The Südwanhütte's positioning at the foot of Dachstein's south face offers a beautiful panorama. Take the Pernerweg and descent towards the southern walls. Turn left and take the steep descending path that will take you back through a larch forest and the 'Maralm' pasture.
This special place benefits from a natural amphitheatre with a little brook and wonderful views back onto the southern walls.
Take the path (no. 671) to the Neustattalm (approx. 30 min) for another scenic highlight. Cross the Dachsteinstraße to the Walcheralm and Glösalm. Continue on via Schlitzenalm where the path will lead back to Gasthof Edelbrunn.
