The Zirbitzkogel shelter is the highest shelter in Styria. The guest room and the sun terrace invite you to rest and linger.

Only 20 meters in altitude and a few minutes walk below the summit of the Zirbitzkogel is the Zirbitzkogel shelter of the ÖTK with overnight accommodation in multi-bed dormitories (20 camp beds, possibility to stay only in the summer months). The hut, located at 2376 meters above sea level, is officially called Helmut-Erd-Schutzhaus and is managed by "Zirbitz-Werni". You can fortify yourself after the hike with a hiking breakfast, vegetable soup, frankfurter, Krainer, Steirerkäsebrot, Bretteljause, Speckjause or Strudel.

Open in summer from the beginning of June until around the end of September.
In winter, depending on snow and weather conditions, at weekends and during the winter holiday weeks.
