Sledding up the mountain and culinary rarities at Zirbitzkogel

Mühlen

With its 2,396 metres in altitude, the Zirbitzkogel is the highest mountain in the Seetal Alps. With converted toboggans, however, the ascent is then quite easy.

Extensive stone pine forests, mountain lakes, the characteristic shape and the shelter located directly below the summit make the Zirbitzkogel unmistakable. It is therefore not surprising that a very special winter activity has been created with the uphill tobogganing. The tobogganing fun doesn't just start when you're going downhill, but "uphill": With converted toboggans especially for this purpose, you are pulled up the mountain comfortably on your toboggan. Downhill you go as you would be used to: on well-prepared sledging tracks - on the Zirbitzkogel through the snow-covered Zirbenwald. On special occasions, you can even go sledging at nighttime.

Winter resort tip: For over 40 years, one can enjoy grandiose panoramic views, fresh alpine air and warm hospitality at the Tonnerhütte run by the Ferner family. The food is always fresh - with ingredients mainly from the region and a lot of organic produce. In addition, the Ferner family always has typical alpine dishes on the menu that are hard to find anywhere else - for example Breinwurst.
