Thundering water, mighty rock faces and bold fords.
New section between Anger and Koglhof is now also passable without traffic.

Coming from Salzburg/Germany:Freeway via Salzburg - Pyhrnautobahn (A9) to Graz - continue via Südautobahn in the direction of Vienna (A2) to the Gleisdorf West exit - Bundesstraße (B54) to Kaibing - ApfelLand-Stubenbergsee.
In Kroisbach an der Feistritz we start the R8 Feistritztalradweg north to Blaindorf and further to Kaibing.
Next to the federal road B54 in Kaibing, the "Park und Bike" bike parking area is also an ideal starting point for the tour.Right next to it, at Gasthof Kricker, there is delicious creamy soft ice cream to enjoy.Continue in a northerly direction.
Whoever feels like it can turn right after about 1 km, and make a detour to Maria Fieberbründl, this small contemplative place of pilgrimage invites us to take a short break. Behind the beautiful pilgrimage church, in the huge forest area "Hofwald", lies the "Gradieranlage", a contemplative wooden building in which salt water trickles over fir brushwood and blackthorn bushes. The whole thing produces the finest "aerosols" (like on a seashore), which are good for the alveoli in the lungs. Now that the lungs have been refueled, we return along the same route to the turn-off point and ride along the R8 to St. Johann bei Herberstein, where on the one hand the well-known Gasthof Prettenhofer awaits with a cycling menu, and on the other hand a detour to the left into the vineyards of Siegersdorf would be worthwhile. Straight ahead, after a short climb, lies Herberstein Castle with the Herberstein Zoo and the Gironcoli Museum.Another short downhill passage and you have reached the Stubenbergsee. Here we recommend a rest at the "See-Gasthöfe" or a detour up into the village of Stubenberg. From the lake path you reach directly the entrance to the gorge stretch, after 2 kilometers the show power station, where a drinking water fountain invites you for a rest. The cycle path through the " Stubenbergklamm" is certainly one of the most beautiful sections along the Feistritz, which takes you further to the Töchterlehof - mare milk stud. Then head towards Anger and continue to Koglhof to the summer toboggan run - this section between Steg and Koglhof is now passable on a traffic-free bike path. After a visit to the summer toboggan run, continue on the busy B 72 federal road to Birkfeld. From Birkfeld, you can enjoy the R8 cycle path on the former railroad line to Ratten, free of traffic.
Since the gorge is a flood zone and is under nature protection, the bike path could only be built under strict conditions with as little interference with nature as possible. The fords (crossings just above the water) do not have any railings (would lead to blockages during floods) and are fortified with massive stone fillings:
Travel at your own risk
In case of high water, the fords must not be entered and cycled on.
The fords are to be passed by bike at walking pace or pushing the bike.
No liability is assumed
Please note that the section between Koglhof to Birkfeld is only on a busy road to drive.
