Winter Hike in St. Kathrein/Offenegg
Open
A wonderful hike above St. Katrein, which leads mainly along municipal roads that are cleared. The tour is therefore good to go even with more snow.
In summer, the "Garden of Eden Cycle Path" leads along this route, in winter it is also possible to hike here without snowshoes or sleds along the little-traveled municipal roads.
Immediately at the entrance to the village, the path leads up to the "Zeil", here beautiful views back to St. Kathrein and far out into the country await. The further path then leads along a beautiful forest path up to the district of Gschaid. Here a magnificent panorama opens up - from the Eibisberg over Schöckl and Rote Wand to the Sommeralm.
The rest of the way leads along the "Mühlental-Wanderweg" with its old mills and the horseshoe figures of "almart" back up to the "Zeil". Along the way, several establishments await hungry stopovers.

- At the crossroads we now turn right down into the forest (signpost "Eibisberg/Garten-Eden-Tour")
- Arrived at the crossroads at the top of the village of Gschaid, we turn right out onto the municipal road (signpost "Garten Eden-Tour")
- We now always have a view far out into the country until we enter the forest again after the "Ferienhaus Kreiner".
- Now a path soon leads right into the Mühlental hiking trail ("Sulamith Garten/St. Kathrein/Zeil")
- We now walk in the forest along the Mühlental hiking trail and pass old mills and the "Horseshoe Dragon".
- The further path now leads left over a small bridge up to the "Sulamith Garten".
- We pass the "Sulamith Garten" and immediately reach the "Zeil" again.
- There we now go left down back into the village
If you are already in St. Kathrein, you should definitely take a walk through the pretty village. There are also several places to stop for refreshments.
