The traditional Almabtrieb always takes place on the last Saturday in September. At the largest cattle drive in Styria, from the Lachtal to the Hochegg, around 450 alpine animals are driven from the surrounding alpine pastures directly to the Hochegg. It is one of the most worth seeing, traditional autumn events in Styria!
If the mountain summer went well for people and animals, the herds are splendidly decorated for the driving down and the Almabtrieb is combined with music and dance events. Good means: All animals are complete and come back healthy and safe in the local barn.
