Reiting - the mountain of flowers

Open
The crossing of the mighty Reitingstock from north to south has an alpine character. The Gößeck as the highest peak offers a great view. In spring and summer, the Reiting is a "flower mountain". Good physical condition is required. The mountain tour is located in the ERZBERG LEOBEN region.
The summit - an island in the vast sea of fog. Far out, the horizon, and high above it, a boundless sky. Deep down at the bottom of the sea, everyday life.

Let's give the thoughts their freedom, let them fly - here and now! Before we "dive down" again.

The Reiting rises as a free-standing mighty mountain above the Trofaiacher basin between the Vordernberger and Lisingtal in the middle of the HerBergLand. The view from it is impressive at any time of the year, but especially on clear autumn days, when deep down the fog lies over the valleys.

Those who climb the Reiting in spring or summer will also be enchanted by its rich flora. It is one of the most beautiful Styrian flower mountains. As an ascent route, the former Retweg to the hunting lodge at Rumpeleck is suggested. It offers scenic variety and on the way to the Grießkogel perhaps the one or other surprising encounter with ibexes. On the Gößeck, the highest point of the Reiting, the view of the HerzBergLand opens up.

Arrival via Gai to Schardorf (parking lot at the Zeller homestead)
Ascent from the parking lot Zeller (893 m) on the forest road in northwestern direction for about 1.2 km to the spring protection fence (about 1000 m). Go around it on the left. Follow the marked path through the Bechlgraben (several steep steps) to the Wildfeldsattel and to the right (north) on the Gößeck (2214 m).

Variant: Shortly after the spring protection fence, an unmarked hunting trail branches off to the left at the Gößeck signpost. This leads over the ridge ridge southwest of the Bechlgraben to the hunting lodge at Rumpeleck (approx. 1510 m). From there over the wide ridge ridge towards Grießkogel. To the right (north) on the Gößeck (2214 m).
