Vienna: A1 to Ybbs, B 25 direction Wieselburg-Scheibbs-Göstling-Palfau-Gams-Grossreifling-Krippau-Altenmarkt

Salzburg: A 10 to exit Altenmarkt, on the B 320 direction Schladming to Liezen, then on the B 146 direction Admont, through the Gesäuse to Hieflau-Grossreifling-Krippau-Altenmarkt

Graz: A 9 to exit Traboch, onto the B 115 towards Eisenerz-Hieflau-Grossreifling-Krippau-Altenmarkt

Linz: A 1 to exit Enns, via B 309 to Steyer, then onto B 25 direction Weyer-Altenmarkt

South of Altenmarkt, turn off at the GF (Georg Fischer) factory entrance.

Staying on the forest road to the left, there is a nice parking lot at the Moaralm signposted.

First follow the forest road until the marked path (No.08, 208) branches off in a right-hand bend. The path now leads moderately uphill through a ditch. Continue eastwards, cross a new forest road several times and finally continue on this road for a while until you reach a saddle with a magnificent view. Once again you leave the forest road in a right-hand bend and reach the magnificent meadows of the former Hinteralm through a wide ditch.

Continue over the alpine meadow and up the steep mountain ridge in a wide right turn. Through a short belt of forest you reach the mountain meadows below the summit ridge with a fork in the path.

Now either cross the mountain ridge to the south on the "Almweg" and below the crest, finally through a hollow to the summit.

Or on the "Kammweg" directly to the east through mountain pines and over slight rugged terrain to the summit cross at the Tanzboden. From the summit, the "Kopetzkysteig" leads steeply down into a dip and one follows the crest, which goes northwards, to the "Lucken", an insured slip through, where the route turns off to the right. Further wire ropes now lead up a graveled path to the summit cross of the Stumpfmauer. From here the "Hugo-Zettl-Steig" leads down to the Schneegrube and in a left turn back to the "Lucken" and the Tanzboden summit. Descent along the same route back to the starting point.

It is recommended to visit the Gesäuse partner "Gasthof Post" and enjoy the regional culinary delights.
