Discover bike tours in Ausseerland

In spring the bike tours lead you past blooming daffodil meadows, in summer the lakes invite you to a welcome cooling off. And when the leaves change color in autumn, you can experience wonderful rides through golden forests.

There are many opportunities to stop off at one of the restaurants and cafés after a day's cycling. So the energy reserves can be recharged for the next tour.

Salzkammergut BergeSeen eTrail: forget time, feel freedom

Over a total of 630 bike kilometers and 14,500 meters of altitude, the BergeSeen eTrail leads to the most beautiful places in the Salzkammergut. Spread over ten stages, e-bikers divide the cycling pleasure individually.

The sixth section of the BergeSeen eTrail runs through the beautiful Ausseerland region. During the stage from Bad Aussee to Altaussee, it is worth stopping at the following places for a closer look at the surroundings:

  • At the Sarstein forest, bikers experience a panoramic view of Loser, Sandling and the Dachstein glacier.
  • When circling Lake Ödensee, a stop at the Kohlröserlhütte is a must.
  • A detour to the Steinitzenalm is rewarded with the enjoyment of local delicacies such as sweet doughnuts and a Brettljause.
  • Before arriving in Bad Mitterndorf, the wildly romantic Salza reservoir in the nature reserve invites you to take a leisurely break.
  • From Grundlsee, after a wonderful refreshment in the lake, the bike tour continues in the direction of Altaussee.
  • On the high road to Altaussee, the smartphone is pulled out to capture the great panorama of a different kind.
  • Once you have arrived at Lake Altaussee, it is difficult to continue the journey. Because the area is a real treat in culinary and historical terms, but also with a view of nature.

The destination of the BergeSee eTrail stage through Ausseerland is Hagan Lodge in Altaussee, nestled between Loser and Sandling.

By the way: The difficulty classifications for mountain bike tours support the planning of the bike tour. The colors reveal what level of difficulty is involved:

  • Blue routes: short tours that are not too steep and easy to master. Basic knowledge of cycling technique is required.
  • Red routes: tours of medium length with sometimes confusing, winding and steeper sections. Special equipment is required. Advanced basic knowledge of riding technique is required.
  • Black routes: difficult tours that are long and steep. They include sections that are even more demanding than those of the red routes. Appropriate equipment and mountain bike riding technique are mandatory.
