Almenland-Hiking Trail

Open

This trail is the ultimate hike through the core area of the nature park - from the Teichalm to the Brandlucken, with plenty of places to stop for refreshments.

The trail begins at the Teichalmsee with its sights - from the lake to the wooden ox and the Teichalm moor. The trail then leads north of the lake to the Sommeralmstraße, which is crossed at the Harrerhütte. Now the trail goes up along forest roads, past the Camping-Pension Holzmeister, to the "Schwoabauerkreuz" cross at the foot of the Osser. From alpine pasture to alpine pasture, the trail leads to the three "weather crosses" and back out onto the Sommeralm road. Now the landmark of the Sommeralm, the windmill, is already directly in front of us.

Now we walk out above the road to the Stoakoglhütte. Again we walk across meadows and pastures to the "Bucklige Lärche", the further path to Brandlucken is well marked. The end of the trail is marked by the oversized "wooden shoe" between the GH Unterberger, the Kornreitherhaus and the Bauernhofer Nature Hotel. The sight here is the Huab'n Theatre with its large open-air stage.

More information

Go to Google Maps to calculate your journey.

You can find all information about the journey here.

  • We start at the wooden ox at the Teichalmsee, immediately behind the ox the marked trail leads up to the Hotel Pierer.
  • There we walk a few steps up the main road and then see the entrance to trail no. 745/702 immediately on the right.
  • Walk along the path until you see the Harrerhütte hut at the bottom right, where you will immediately see the turnoff downhill to the right.
  • Cross the meadow and a small bridge to reach the Sommeralmstraße, which you cross. ATTENTION: if you have missed the turn-off, you can also walk back along the Sommeralmstraße to the Harrerhütte.
  • A forest trail (trail no. 45) leads out over the Harrerhütte car park to the left to the Camping-Pension Holzmeister.
  • Continue along trail no. 45 and soon reach the "Schwoabauerkreuz".
  • We now walk along a beautiful section of the trail over alpine pastures and through small forests up to the three "Wetterkreuzen" (weather crosses).
  • Below us we see the path leading out to the Sommeralm, we turn left downhill and walk along path no. 706 out to the chapel or Sommeralmstraße.
  • Now the windmill is directly in front of us, we cross the road and rejoin trail no. 745.
  • A little above the Sommeralmstraße, we now walk out to the Stoakoglhütte.
  • There we cross the road again and walk across the pasture to the "Bucklige Lärche" (turnoff to Gasen).
  • From there follow trail no. 745 or the "Brandlucken" markings into the village.
  • The trail ends at the "Holzschuh" in the centre of the small village.

For transport back to the Teichalm, we recommend our shared taxi SAM - please book in good time!

In the summer months, the excellent open-air theatre on the Brandlucken invites you to visit, mainly comedy classics are played.
