Useful Tips
Motorway toll: Toll stickers are obligatory when using Austrian motorways and express roads. Stickers are valid for 10 days, 2 months or 1 year and are available from automobile clubs and petrol stations near the border areas.
Speed limits: Urban areas: 50km/h, main roads: 100 km/h, express roads (S) and motorways (A): 130 km/h.
Entry Requirements
Austria is a member of the EU, thus general conditions apply as per the Schengen Agreement. There are generally no controls at Austrian borders with Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, since all states belong to the EU Schengen area. However, please ensure you have a valid travel document (passport, ID card) with you when entering a Schengen country.
